ENGLISH FOLLOWS

 

Je m'applique à mon art depuis des lunes.  Suite à ma graduation du New York Institute of Photography , j'ai trempé un certain temps dans la photo dite “commerciale” pour en arriver aujourd’hui à me consacrer entièrement à la création d' images de collection.

 

L’intérêt de mes photographies réside d’abord dans le contenu sans toutefois négliger les qualités autant esthétiques que techniques du matériau exploité.  Le noir et blanc exerce toujours sa fascination sur mes élans créatifs. Ses alternances et ses variations de tonalité conjurent la routine du quotidien pour faire place à une capture de la lumière dépouillée de ses artifices, en quelque sorte contemplative. Depuis quelque temps déjà, la couleur s’est présentée en émule et cohabite admirablement avec les monochromes dans des rendus passionnants.

 

De nos jours, au grand dam des nostalgiques, la photographie dite argentique a cédé sa place, à toute fin pratique, au numérique.  À retenir de cette état de fait que l’essentiel réside dans le résultat. À chacun d'entre nous d'en apprécier son caractère. J'imprime désormais mes images avec de l’encre pigmentée permanente aussi bien en couleur qu’en noir et blanc, en général sur du papier Hahnemühle Fine Art,  pour présenter des photos d’art de qualités exceptionnelles.

 

Fixer dans un espace intemporel les vibrations d’un instant d’éternité, y déposer son regard, vue sur la connaissance. Voilà ma photographie.

 

Henri Cartier-Bresson disait « Photographier, c’est mettre sur la même ligne de mire la tête, l’œil et le cœur ».

I have been committed to my art for ages. Following graduation from the New York Institute of Photography, I had a hand at so-called commercial photography for a while to be now absorbed in the exclusive creation of images of collection.

 

As much as the aesthetic and technical qualities of the support material are weighed, the core of my photographs remains in the content. Black and white will always exercise it's magic on my creative impulses. It’s variations and alternations of hues ward off the predictable daily life to make room for the seizure of a bare light, as if it were contemplative. For some time now, color became serious competition and stands alongside monochromes in passionate renderings.

 

Nowadays, to the great displeasure of nostalgia buffs, silver/halide photography, for all practical purposes, gave way to digital processes.  However that may be, the essential dwells in the end product. To appreciate it's character is a matter of personal choice. From now on, I use archival pigmented ink for color as well as for black and white, most of the time on Hahnemühle fine art paper, to achieve fine art prints of exceptional quality.

 

To bind in timeless space the vibrations of an infinite second, gaze coming to rest on it, knowledge with a view. The quintessence of my photographs.

 

Henri Cartier-Bresson said that “To photograph is to align your head, your eye and your hearth on the sight bar”
